INDONESIA PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION 2009 THE MOST UNDEMO and Unfair CRATIC ELECTION IN REFORMATION ERA
Since 1999 Indonesia had held first democratic election which multiparties join the legislative election. There were 46 parties joined the election. As the first election after Soeharto’s era, the election that had been monitored by more than 500 foreign observers, it was the successes election. Only small amount of violation and mostly Indonesia citizen had the right to exercise its human right to vote. But due to a very new democratic election , of whom the highest person of political leaders were not from military background, its democratic process turn out to have been had small wrong path. Even Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle had been winning of 33% of votes and gain 150 seats in Parliament, the leader of the Party, Megawati Soekarnoputri could not be a president right away. It was still decision that had in the arm of People’s Assembly (the State Highest Body of People’s Representatives legacy of ConstituTHROUGH VOTED. Indonesia seem to not practiced its Fourth Principle of Pancasila (FIVE PRINCIPLE).
Indonesia, with the Pancasila have FIVE Principles of 1. Belief in the one and only God (Ketuhanan yang Maha Esa)2. Just and civilized humanity (Kemanusiaan yang Adil dan Beradab)3. The unity of Indonesia (Persatuan Indonesia) 4. Democracy guided by the inner wisdom in the unanimity arising out of deliberations amongst representatives (Kerakyatan yang Dipimpin oleh Hikmat Kebijaksanaan dalam Permusyawaratan/Perwakilan)5. Social justice for the whole of the people of Indonesia (Keadilan Sosial bagi Seluruh Rakyat Indonesia). And for almost Indonesia’s state decision in Assembly, mostly in Soeharto’s era cause of President’s order, the Assembly exercise Fourth Principle.
And the vote decided to chose who was the President Elected and it done by People’s Assembly were Gus Dur (from Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa/NationRising Party) and Megawati Soekarnopoetri (Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle) as vice president.
For the first time Indonesia coudl chose their leader, yet their leader to be was not whom they preferred. And because Indonesia citizens was people of humble and peace, and full of hospitality, they mostly accepted it. Unless it was provoked by or lead by a high influential person. And because of Soeharto iron fist, there are almost none of Indonesia person that can have charisma and influential to all people, but to most, Megawati Soekarnoputri was and still influntial to people, and her party gain most votes. But then again, it was the Media had its role as Real Player—the Fourth Power in The Indonesian State. And too outside power of The Super Power.
In 2004, Megawati was still President of Republic Indonesia, and because of international pressure (USA mostly) driven by and through Non Governmental Organization claimed as Civil Society Organization which funded mostly by Foreign Agency , the Indonesia government then held First Direct Election to President. One of the prominent organization was/still is CETRO (central for electoral reform), I was joined this organization for 6 months before the election, for they have this women’s election program. Media frenzy about election mostly to gather information about how the election was conducted. And as always before the election even came to started, and those information mostly gather from CETRO. Within this condition not only CETRO had the credibility to influence public opinion through media, as organization CETRO too have tight relation with the Election Commission. Their opinion was matter.
Somewhere along the way, where not many people seek, the Coordinator Minister of Security and Politics who was military person, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was treated as trusted minister by Megawati Soekarnopoetri. And yet, he was a military man with ambition. With the support from media, he created himself as ‘the oppressed’ while he was never oppressed at all. Megawati was oppressed by Soeharto during a New Order regime in the 1966s, he banned her to chose her political activity as a student in university, and because of that Megawati never finished her University Year.
And Megawati Soekarnoputri is A Statesman (Statewoman), A person who put their COUNTRY FIRST. She is always be a person who obey the contitution. Even when She was a president, she follow the rule, as it said RULE BY THE BOOK. She was in Power in 2004, and yet She was with dignity stay firmed to let National Election Commission did their job without Intervention. And due to other ‘INVISIBLE POWER’ intervention to National Election Commission KPU, the President was failed to win.
The indication of its intervention from The INVISIBLE POWER were one of members of KPU became Member became minister and the other member of KPU became Leader of The Elected President’s party Partai Demokrat SBY. And later on he became a spokesperson for President Incumbent SBY in presidential election 2009.
